Digits are the single numbers used to represent values in math. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 are used in different combinations and repetitions to represent all the values in math.
A digit is any single number used in math. In our base ten system, we have ten unique digits, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. With these you can make single digit numbers, of course. But you can also place the digits beside each other to form new numbers. For example, in the number 37, the 3 is worth 3 tens and the 7 is worth 7 ones. In the number 73, the 7 is worth 7 tens and the 3 is worth 3 ones. See how the order makes a difference? Pretty neat, huh?
