Addend

Formal definition: Addends in math can be defined as the numbers that we add together to get a sum. In addition, we calculate the total or the sum of two or more numbers. (Definition from https://www.splashlearn.com/math-vocabulary/addition/addend)

 Kid-friendly definition: Addend is a number that is added to another number to find a sum. When you have one quantity separate from another quantity or (quantities) and you want to put them together to find how many these quantities are together.

Example: Let’s suppose is Halloween, you got 5 candies. When you return home, you ask your sister for 2 more candies. The 2 candies she gives you will be added. That is called addend. Now you have 7 candies. Isn’t it? Yes, well done!

Conclusion: Numbers involved in addition are “5” and “2”, these are called addend.
